Faribault Area Hospice Philosophy
Hospice provides support and care for persons in the final phases of an incurable illness so that they may live as fully and as comfortably as possible.
Hospice recognizes dying as part of the normal process of living and focuses on maintaining quality of life.
Hospice affirms life and neither hastens nor postpones death.
Hospice exists in the hope and belief that through appropriate care, and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, patients and their families may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual preparation for death.

When Hospice Care is Appropriate
Faribault Area Hospice offers services to patients who have  a serious, life-limiting illness and whose physician has determined the goal of medical treatment is no longer curative. A patient may be admitted to hospice when the following criteria are met:
the patient’s physician certifies that the patient has a life expectancy of six months or less
the patient accepts care that is focused on comfort rather than a cure
the patient resides within the Faribault Area Hospice service area

How Hospice Costs are Covered
Hospice costs are covered by the Medicare Hospice Benefit, Medical Assistance Hospice Benefit and most managed care and private insurance plans. Our staff can help answer questions about particular insurance plans.
